Requirements

  • Earned Bachelor's degree.
  • Minimum of 4-10 hours per week of availability.
  • At least two years of experience as an Associate Dean/Director of Admissions (from a US four-year college/university), College Prep Guidance Counselor, or Independent Educational Consultant.
  • Expert knowledge of college admissions criteria at competitive schools, little ivies, and hidden gems.
  • Outgoing, empathetic personality with strong relationship-building skills.
  • Proven, exceptional writing skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Strong attention to detail and project management skills.
  • High degree of confidence with web-conferencing, document sharing, online lesson delivery, and scheduling software.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular meetings with students and parents to create and review college admissions strategies.
  • Develop balanced college lists based on students’ goals, backgrounds, and interests.
  • Provide comprehensive support and feedback for college essays.
  • Plan and manage application submission timelines and strategies.
  • Curate students’ activities resumes and plan for letters of recommendation.
  • Facilitate admissions interview coaching and campus visit planning.
  • Manage academic, standardized test, and extracurricular planning for students.
  • Coach students through independent projects and update meeting notes after sessions.
  • Review and compare admissions offers with students and families.
