Requirements
- 8+ years of combined law firm and in-house legal experience.
- Substantial tenure leading corporate legal matters at a multinational, publicly traded technology company.
- J.D. or U.S. law degree equivalent.
- Active bar admission in good standing in at least one U.S. state.
- Strong working knowledge of the '33 Act and '34 Act.
- Experience managing SEC reporting and disclosure obligations.
- Experience advising executives and the board on corporate governance, equity compensation, and M&A.
- Fluency in applying AI tools to legal workflows.
- Proven experience building and leading legal teams.
- Ability to work effectively in a fully remote, asynchronous environment.
Responsibilities
- Define and execute the long-term strategy for GitLab's corporate and compliance legal function.
- Partner with the CFO, People leadership, and E-Group on corporate governance, securities, equity strategy, executive compensation, and M&A.
- Build, lead, and develop a high-performing team of corporate attorneys and paralegals.
- Own SEC reporting, disclosure obligations, and equity plan administration.
- Champion AI-enabled legal workflows to improve consistency and speed.
- Manage outside counsel relationships across corporate and M&A matters.
