Requirements
- J.D. from an accredited U.S. law school.
- License to practice law from a U.S. state.
- Minimum of 3+ years of legal experience.
- Background in areas such as transactional law, litigation, intellectual property, consumer finance, or employment law.
- Experience with securities laws and filings, capital markets, and public board governance is strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of solar energy market dynamics and federal/state energy regulations.
- Proven ability to effectively manage outside counsel.
- Strong leadership, management, and mentoring skills.
- High ethical standards and integrity with a focus on compliance.
- Ability to work with flexibility, including potentially odd hours as business demands require.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the negotiation, drafting, and execution of contracts with suppliers, customers, and other stakeholders related to residential solar energy projects.
- Manage risk by advising on the structure of business development projects and form business program agreements.
- Oversee and manage litigation matters, disputes, and claims, working with external counsel when necessary.
- Develop strategies for dispute resolution, including negotiation, mediation, or settlement.
- Identify and mitigate legal risks associated with company operations and projects.
- Develop internal policies and procedures to protect the company from legal and financial exposure.
- Act as the primary liaison between the company and its external legal advisors, investors, and regulatory bodies.
- Represent the company in industry forums and regulatory proceedings.
