Requirements
- 8+ years of experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale.
- Proficiency in backend languages such as Python or Kotlin.
- Extensive track record developing highly available distributed systems using technologies like AWS, MySQL, Spark, and Kubernetes.
- Experience developing consumer experiences using UI frameworks like React.
- 2+ years of experience working in search or related recommendation engines.
- Proven ability to deliver major features, system components, or deprecate existing functionality via technical and execution plans.
- Strong ability to write high-quality, maintainable code.
- Comfortable working in ambiguity, from low-level language idioms to large-system architecture.
- Demonstrated mastery in gathering and iterating on feedback from engineering and cross-functional peers.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with a global engineering team.
Responsibilities
- Set technical strategy for your team on a year-long time scale, tying it to business-impacting projects.
- Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics to ensure technical sustainability, risk management, and trade-offs.
- Act as a force-multiplier by defining and advocating for technical solutions and operational processes.
- Own team operations and availability, including monitoring, triage, playbooks, and testing to support on-call efforts.
- Foster a culture of quality by setting code review and design standards and advocating for them through writing and tech talks.
- Develop team talent through feedback, guidance, and leading by example.
