Requirements
- Minimum of seven years of full-time professional experience as a backend software engineer.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent training in software engineering principles.
- Extensive experience with Python, including developing applications and complex data processing tasks.
- Advanced experience with PostgreSQL, including query optimization, joins, stored procedures, and performance tuning.
- Familiarity with Django or Flask web frameworks.
- Practical experience with Linux and Bash scripting.
- Experience with Docker containers and AWS services including EC2, RDS, and CloudFront.
- Demonstrated ability to apply design patterns for modular, efficient software and mentor others in architectural problem-solving.
- Strong ability to present and explain complex ideas clearly to non-technical colleagues.
- Experience with Terraform for infrastructure as code.
Responsibilities
- Implement improvements to EUDR backend services, refine geospatial workflows, and strengthen data checks and error handling.
- Trace through data, assumptions, and system behavior to investigate and resolve issues identified by the Support team.
- Clarify and translate ambiguous or evolving requirements into practical engineering tasks.
- Interpret and adapt system components in response to new regulatory guidance and FAQs.
- Perform backend development using Python and PostgreSQL/PostGIS, improve observability, and contribute to CI/CD pipelines.
- Apply and maintain Terraform-based changes in AWS for backend services.
