Requirements
- 7+ years in Product Management, with experience in observability, monitoring, developer tools, or infrastructure.
- Working fluency with the OpenTelemetry ecosystem (signals, semantic conventions, collectors, and instrumentation tradeoffs).
- Familiarity with AI workload economics, including token pricing, model selection, and LLM budget attribution.
- Deep developer empathy and technical depth for architectural collaboration with engineering.
- Track record of taking ambiguous, cross-cutting problems and turning them into shipped outcomes.
- Strong communication and storytelling skills.
- Bonus: Experience with GenAI/agent observability conventions.
- Bonus: Experience with LLM gateways, proxies, or metering products.
- Bonus: Experience as an SRE or infrastructure engineer.
- Bonus: Hands-on experience building or instrumenting AI agents.
- Bonus: Contributions to OpenTelemetry or open-source telemetry projects.
Responsibilities
- Own the vision, strategy, and roadmap for observability at Render.
- Manage systems telemetry scope including logs, metrics, distributed tracing, and OpenTelemetry-native instrumentation.
- Develop strategy for agent and LLM observability, including model calls, tool use, and multi-step agent runs.
- Build the cost and usage layer to make token economics legible for users.
- Drive prioritization across observability investments, balancing foundational infrastructure against product needs.
- Partner with Engineering and Product teams to optimize telemetry pipelines for signal fidelity, query performance, and cost at scale.
