Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Current Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification.
- Certified Anesthesia and Pain Management Coder (CANPC) certification (preferred).
- Minimum 2 years of surgical coding experience (anesthesia experience strongly preferred).
- Strong knowledge of complex surgical CPT coding and ICD-10 guidelines.
- Experience coding for physicians, CRNAs, CAAs, and nurse practitioners.
- Familiarity with NCCI bundling, CMS regulations, LCD/NCD policies, and anesthesia coding guidelines.
- Experience working with multiple EMR systems and charge capture solutions.
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Adobe PDF tools.
- Strong computer literacy and ten-key proficiency.
- Ability to work independently and manage productivity in a remote setting.
Responsibilities
- Review anesthesia records and clinical documentation for completeness, accuracy, and regulatory compliance.
- Abstract and assign CPT codes and crosswalk surgical procedures to corresponding ASA codes.
- Apply ICD-10 coding guidelines to assign accurate diagnosis codes.
- Assign coding modifiers based on payer and regulatory requirements.
- Analyze anesthesia records to determine start and end times, care team involvement, and medical direction.
- Identify and assign provider roles including physicians, CRNAs, CAAs, and residents.
- Ensure compliance with CMS regulations, NCCI edits, and LCD/NCD policies.
- Meet established productivity and quarterly audit performance targets.
