Requirements
- 2 years of administration or similar experience preferred.
- Previous medical office experience preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Understanding of HIPAA compliance and OSHA rules and regulations.
- Ability to communicate scheduling details and financial requirements to patients.
- Proficiency in administrative duties including insurance coordination and documentation.
Responsibilities
- Schedule all office visits, in-office procedures, and operating room procedures, including pre-operation appointments.
- Provide outside facilities with authorization information.
- Assist surgical team by reviewing paperwork and instructions with patients and ensuring required information is routed to pre-op departments.
- Communicate scheduling changes to appropriate team members and remind patients of appointments.
- Process and document insurance pre-certifications and coordination of benefits for procedures and medications.
- Collect required fees and inform patients of out-of-pocket expenses and account balances.
- Maintain and schedule incoming referrals and update patient registrations.
- Cross-reference incoming biopsy specimens with EHR reports to ensure accuracy.
