Requirements
- Minimum 5-7 years of relevant fundraising experience in a nonprofit organization.
- Demonstrated success in individual giving, corporate sponsorships, or grant writing.
- Strong relationship-building and communication skills.
- Experience with CRM software (e.g., Salesforce).
- Must reside in the DC Metro area; preference for 3+ years of residency in the local community.
- Ability to travel locally up to 40% of the time.
- Ability to travel out of town for periodic staff offsites and company events.
- Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as necessary.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Knowledge of the military family experience preferred.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Executive Director with local fundraising strategy to meet or exceed revenue goals.
- Manage a portfolio of at least 30 new major gift prospects through the full donor lifecycle.
- Cultivate, solicit, and steward relationships with individual donors, corporate sponsors, and foundations.
- Collaborate with national development teams to identify and pursue funding opportunities.
- Maintain accurate donor records and activity tracking in Salesforce.
- Support grant proposal writing and reporting.
- Represent Blue Star Families at community events and networking opportunities.
