Requirements
- Professional experience creating lighting for games, real-time projects, animation, or visualization.
- Portfolio or reel demonstrating strong real-time lighting work.
- Strong understanding of lighting fundamentals: value, color, contrast, composition, and material response.
- Experience lighting gameplay environments or interactive real-time scenes.
- Professional experience using Unreal Engine or another modern real-time engine.
- Proficiency with dynamic or baked lighting, global illumination, reflections, and volumetrics.
- Knowledge of basic lighting optimization, scalability, and platform constraints.
- Ability to collaborate with multiple game-development disciplines.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Experience reviewing artwork and providing constructive feedback.
Responsibilities
- Create high-quality real-time lighting for gameplay environments, levels, cinematics, characters, and interactive sequences.
- Translate art direction and gameplay requirements into lighting solutions that support mood, atmosphere, and player focus.
- Develop and refine lighting elements including color, contrast, fog, reflections, shadows, and post-processing.
- Review work of other artists and provide actionable feedback to ensure visual and technical quality.
- Collaborate with environment, technical, and VFX artists to ensure lighting is visually effective and technically stable.
- Manage lighting tasks, monitor progress, and communicate artistic or production risks to project leads.
- Validate lighting performance across target hardware and scalability levels.
