Requirements
- Substantial professional experience in corporate and physical security across diverse geographic and political contexts.
- Leadership experience in risk management, including development and execution of emergency response plans.
- Strong networking, analytical, and communication skills with the ability to summarize complex geopolitical data for executives.
- Ability to remain calm in high-pressure or ambiguous situations involving physical security risks.
- Experience collaborating with subject-matter experts on threat modeling and contingency planning.
- Experience using digital security tools for secure communication during on-site events.
- Fluency in written and spoken English.
- Flexibility to work outside standard hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Willingness to travel internationally for roughly 4 to 6 trips per year.
- Ability to adapt to new online community protocols and technologies.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain understanding of global environments facing Wikimedia volunteers to mitigate physical security risks.
- Strengthen enterprise risk management approach including policy development and implementation.
- Create risk and gap assessments to track high-risk threats across technology, brand, operations, and legal domains.
- Improve expertise in identifying and addressing emerging physical security threats to staff and communities.
- Lead risk assessments for Foundation-funded community conferences and communicate findings to organizers.
- Create and implement emergency response plans for physical security threats in coordination with law enforcement and experts.
- Provide on-call support for emergency alerts and lead response working groups during incidents.
