Requirements
- Roughly 10 or more years of experience in data engineering, data platform, or analytics engineering.
- 3 to 5 years of experience leading and building teams.
- Deep hands-on experience with a modern data stack (Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, or Redshift).
- Proficiency with dbt or similar transformation tooling.
- Experience with orchestration tools such as Airflow or Dagster.
- Experience with both batch and streaming technologies like Kafka, Spark, or Flink.
- Strong data modeling and SQL skills.
- Production-quality Python development capabilities.
- Experience with data governance, including lineage, cataloging, and access control for PII and payments data.
- Proven ownership of data reliability including SLAs, SLOs, quality monitoring, and incident response.
- Ability to treat pipelines like software using version control, code review, automated tests, and CI/CD.
Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end data platform architecture from source systems to serving, consolidating the stack and evaluating future patterns like lakehouse architectures.
- Design the transition path for order data from legacy monolith systems to a new source of truth using event consumption and change data capture.
- Develop a semantic layer with modeling rigor to ensure core metrics like revenue, conversion, and retention are consistent across the organization.
- Implement testing, monitoring, and SLAs to ensure data reliability and surface issues proactively.
- Provide infrastructure for feature serving to support ML workflows safely and reproducibly.
- Manage warehouse cost and performance as a primary engineering metric.
