Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in SRE, platform, DevOps, or backend roles with meaningful production ownership.
- Proven experience carrying a pager and owning services through real incidents.
- Proficiency in at least one general-purpose language such as Python, Go, or TypeScript.
- Willingness to review and modify application code to resolve infrastructure or reliability issues.
- Proven ability to identify, analyze, and solve complex problems independently.
- Experience treating process as an engineering tool, such as restructuring on-call or implementing postmortems.
- Strong collaboration instincts with the ability to communicate technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to operate autonomously in a self-directed, early-stage environment without a pre-existing playbook.
- Nice to have: Experience in a regulated environment such as healthcare or fintech.
- Nice to have: Experience working with HIPAA or SOC 2 frameworks.
- Nice to have: Experience as an early or first infrastructure/reliability hire.
Responsibilities
- Design the human side of reliability: on-call rotations, incident roles and communication, blameless postmortems, and change management.
- Help shape the platform roadmap by identifying reliability problems and owning solutions through to adoption.
- Build and operate the core reliability toolkit, including observability (metrics, logging, tracing, alerting), CI/CD, and infrastructure as code.
- Embed with product engineers to improve service operability and increase the team's overall operational literacy.
- Define SLOs in partnership with product and engineering stakeholders based on patient and customer impact.
- Investigate incidents and recurring pain points to determine whether code or process changes are required.
- Contribute to the compliance and security posture (audit trails, access controls, environment isolation) to protect sensitive health data.
