Requirements
- At least 7 years of experience working in an agile, multidisciplinary team environment, preferably designing and building medium to large-scale on Cloud platforms.
- At least 3 years of experience leading and mentoring engineering teams.
- At least 3 years of experience building data services on AWS.
- Experience building large-scale data services.
- Experience with big data technologies such as Apache Spark, AWS Glue, AWS Athena, Databricks, AWS Redshift, AWS S3, and AWS RDS.
- Proficient writing applications and APIs in Python or Ruby.
- Tenacity to dive into problems and iterate in working code.
- Systems thinker and advocate for users.
- Highly resourceful, reliable, and detail-oriented.
- Ability to think strategically around trade-offs and short-term vs. long-term benefits.
- Adaptive, empathetic, collaborative and positive mindset.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Lead a team of 2-3 engineers.
- Design, review, and build well-crafted software in an agile manner.
- Design and develop scalable data ingestion and processing pipelines.
- Implement large-scale data ecosystems within cloud-based platforms, including data management and governance.
- Implement data validation and quality checks to ensure accuracy and consistency.
- Work with cross-functional project teams to gather business requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
- Work with Government partners to develop data engineering applications and pipelines.
- Participate in software design and code reviews.
- Maintain security and privacy standards in all aspects of the data pipeline.
- Participate in hiring activities as needed.
