Requirements

  • At least 7 years of experience working in an agile, multidisciplinary team environment, preferably designing and building medium to large-scale on Cloud platforms.
  • At least 3 years of experience leading and mentoring engineering teams.
  • At least 3 years of experience building data services on AWS.
  • Experience building large-scale data services.
  • Experience with big data technologies such as Apache Spark, AWS Glue, AWS Athena, Databricks, AWS Redshift, AWS S3, and AWS RDS.
  • Proficient writing applications and APIs in Python or Ruby.
  • Tenacity to dive into problems and iterate in working code.
  • Systems thinker and advocate for users.
  • Highly resourceful, reliable, and detail-oriented.
  • Ability to think strategically around trade-offs and short-term vs. long-term benefits.
  • Adaptive, empathetic, collaborative and positive mindset.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of 2-3 engineers.
  • Design, review, and build well-crafted software in an agile manner.
  • Design and develop scalable data ingestion and processing pipelines.
  • Implement large-scale data ecosystems within cloud-based platforms, including data management and governance.
  • Implement data validation and quality checks to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Work with cross-functional project teams to gather business requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
  • Work with Government partners to develop data engineering applications and pipelines.
  • Participate in software design and code reviews.
  • Maintain security and privacy standards in all aspects of the data pipeline.
  • Participate in hiring activities as needed.
