Requirements
- Extensive experience owning a design system end-to-end at a product company, including driving organizational adoption.
- Deep fluency in design-to-code integration, including token pipelines, component APIs, and versioning.
- Proven track record of driving process adoption through pragmatic, builder-friendly methods rather than heavy governance.
- Strong working knowledge of modern front-end concepts such as components, states, tokens, and responsive behavior.
- Experience setting accessibility standards and shipping accessible components using WCAG-informed practices.
- Hands-on experience with AI-assisted design and development workflows (e.g., Cursor, Claude Code).
- Ability to thrive in ambiguity and set direction for peer and partner teams.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence diverse stakeholders without formal authority.
- Comfort making opinionated calls on trade-offs between speed, system purity, and product reality.
Responsibilities
- Audit current product UI and artifacts to identify opportunities for standardization and inconsistency reduction.
- Define system information architecture, including taxonomy, component hierarchy, and documentation.
- Develop a scalable token strategy and maintain synchronization between Figma variables, code tokens, and Storybook.
- Partner with front-end engineers to create reusable, well-architected components with accessibility built in.
- Establish a lightweight, builder-friendly contribution process to facilitate team adoption without heavy governance.
- Design documentation structures that are both human-readable and machine-readable for AI agents.
- Build pipelines connecting Figma and PM prompts through AI tools into Storybook-validated components.
- Measure and track system adoption, UI consistency, and improvements in design-dev cycle time.
