Requirements
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with a track record of building and operating critical production systems.
- Strong backend engineering skills and sound judgment about system design, reliability, and trade-offs.
- Deep experience in a comparable JVM services stack (Kotlin experience is preferred).
- Experience building services that are low-latency and highly available.
- Strong software quality habits, including writing well-tested, maintainable, and observable code.
- Excellent communication and ability to work well with Product, Design, and engineering teams.
- Curiosity about financial reality and the "why" behind complex systems.
- Enthusiasm for AI-assisted development and rigorous engineering practices.
- Experience in fintech, banking, trading, or a regulated high-stakes domain (nice-to-have).
- Familiarity with ledgers, reconciliation, event-driven architecture, and stream processing (Kafka/Flink) (nice-to-have).
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate backend services that power balances, margin, buying power, collateral, and lending.
- Own meaningful scope end-to-end, from technical design through to running your work reliably in production.
- Solve complex problems around real-time correctness, low latency, and high availability.
- Help evolve architecture for new lending products, larger scale, and an event-driven platform.
- Raise the bar on quality and operational excellence through thoughtful design, code review, and production ownership.
- Mentor and grow engineers through pairing, code review, and in-the-moment feedback.
