Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering, Packaging Science, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of hands-on packaging engineering experience with primary and secondary packaging development.
- Experience in dietary supplements, pharmaceuticals, nutritional products, food and beverage, or other cGMP-regulated environments.
- Strong proficiency with PLM or specification management systems.
- Experience with SKU and UPC management and engineering change workflows.
- Knowledge of FDA 21 CFR Part 111 requirements, NSF certification processes, and labeling regulations.
- Ability to interpret and validate dielines, structural drawings, and technical packaging documentation.
- Experience collaborating with copackers, converters, manufacturers, and print suppliers.
- Ability to manage high-volume active packaging projects and maintain deadlines.
- Preferred: Experience with flexible film packaging, sealing technologies, and packaging qualification.
Responsibilities
- Create, maintain, and manage packaging specifications within PLM systems.
- Review and validate dielines, structural specifications, material details, and bills of materials.
- Manage engineering change requests (ECRs) and packaging revisions.
- Partner with suppliers, copackers, and cross-functional teams to ensure packaging accuracy and scalability.
- Coordinate packaging samples, testing, trial runs, and pilot fills.
- Support secondary packaging development, including cartons, shippers, and print specifications.
- Identify risks, dependencies, and timeline impacts for packaging initiatives.
- Ensure packaging decisions align with regulatory requirements, including dietary supplement standards.
