Requirements

  • Quantitatively oriented advanced degree (e.g., epidemiology, statistics, economics, or related fields).
  • Substantial professional experience in the vaccination landscape.
  • Experience in epidemiological or health economics modeling.
  • Experience in vaccination program implementation or funding.
  • Strong ability to interrogate evidence and surface underlying value judgments or assumptions.
  • Capacity to manage complex, multi-faceted research projects.
  • Demonstrated capability to reassess mental models based on evidence and new data.
  • Ability to communicate confidence levels clearly and legibly.
  • Ability to balance directness with professional relationship management.

Responsibilities

  • Create and lead ambitious research agendas related to vaccination portfolios.
  • Perform rigorous evidence review and critical synthesis of complex vaccination research questions.
  • Develop and refine cost-effectiveness models for vaccination programs.
  • Engage with subject matter experts to inform grantmaking decisions.
  • Own grant investigations end-to-end, from initial research question through final recommendation.
  • Communicate research findings externally and represent GiveWell to partners.
  • Mentor and advise other researchers on the team.
