Requirements

  • Verification of American Sign Language proficiency through recognized certification.
  • National ASL certification through RID, EIPA certification of 3.7 or higher, and/or BEI certification preferred.
  • State license or registration where required by local regulations.
  • At least 1 year of relevant interpreting experience.
  • Experience with medical interpretation is strongly preferred.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Must currently reside in the United States.
  • Intermediate computer skills and comfort using remote video technology.
  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong ASL communication abilities and fluency in relevant languages.
  • Ability to manage confidential and sensitive information professionally.
  • Strong listening skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Customer-focused mindset with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to remain flexible, calm, and professional in stressful or complex situations.
  • Ability to work independently while following established procedures and guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Provide remote American Sign Language interpretation services through video platforms.
  • Accurately interpret spoken and signed communication between clients and consumers while maintaining meaning, tone, and context.
  • Support interpretation needs primarily in medical settings as well as general community-based environments.
  • Deliver timely and professional service to patients, family members, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and comply with applicable privacy regulations, including HIPAA, FERPA, GLBA, and related standards.
  • Follow professional interpreting ethics, guidelines, and quality standards.
  • Complete daily activity logs, documentation, and required administrative tasks.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development programs.
  • Maintain positive interactions and provide excellent customer service during every assignment.
  • Adapt effectively to challenging or sensitive conversations while remaining neutral and professional.
