Requirements
- 12+ years of relevant legal experience, including at least 5 years working in an in-house legal environment.
- Proven experience advising executive teams on strategic legal matters, governance, and risk management.
- Strong background as a corporate generalist with expertise in corporate governance and commercial transactions.
- Experience supporting technology, internet, platform, e-commerce, consumer, or subscription-based businesses.
- Ability to manage complex legal matters involving consumer protection, litigation, compliance, and regulatory requirements.
- Experience with international operations and domestic or global regulatory frameworks (preferred).
- Knowledge of privacy, data governance, and cybersecurity matters (highly valuable).
- Experience adopting AI-enabled workflows to improve legal practices and team efficiency.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong leadership skills with experience mentoring, developing, and scaling legal teams.
- Excellent business judgment, adaptability, and comfort operating in ambiguous environments.
Responsibilities
- Partner with executive leadership to define legal strategy, governance frameworks, and risk management approaches.
- Support the General Counsel in managing legal department strategy, operations, and effectiveness.
- Lead and mentor a high-performing legal team.
- Identify opportunities to leverage AI tools and modern technologies to enhance legal operations.
- Advise business teams on corporate, commercial, regulatory, privacy, employment, and compliance matters.
- Manage complex legal issues including strategic transactions, commercial agreements, and litigation.
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide variety of business agreements and strategic partnerships.
- Strengthen legal operations, entity management, and internal policies.
- Oversee outside counsel relationships.
- Develop legal training programs and promote risk-aware decision-making.
