Requirements
- Active CPA certification required.
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including Controller or Assistant Controller responsibilities.
- Deep knowledge of technical accounting principles and US GAAP.
- Proven experience managing month-end close processes and external audits.
- Strong ownership mindset with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to operate strategically while remaining hands-on with daily accounting activities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to communicate complex financial concepts clearly.
- Experience with modern accounting platforms; experience with Xero is a plus.
- Background managing multi-entity accounting and consolidations.
- Experience in fintech, lending, insurance, or regulated financial services environments is highly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Own the monthly financial close process from start to finish, ensuring accurate and timely financial statements.
- Maintain the integrity of the general ledger through reconciliations, journal entries, and accounting policy management.
- Lead annual audit preparation and manage relationships with external auditors and tax advisors.
- Ensure compliance with US GAAP and maintain effective internal controls.
- Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll accounting, and expense management processes.
- Analyze operating expenses, budget variances, trends, and financial risks to support informed decision-making.
- Partner with finance leadership on monthly and quarterly reporting initiatives.
- Manage intercompany accounting, reconciliations, and consolidation activities when applicable.
- Collaborate with teams across Operations, Product, Technology, and People functions to maintain financial accuracy.
- Identify and implement accounting process improvements to increase efficiency and scalability.
