Requirements

  • 5–10 years of experience in enterprise technical support, database administration, or similar roles focused on large-scale distributed systems.
  • Strong hands-on experience managing, maintaining, and troubleshooting enterprise database environments.
  • Deep understanding of database architecture concepts, including storage models, indexing, query optimization, performance tuning, and data management.
  • Expert-level Linux/Unix knowledge, including command-line troubleshooting, system performance analysis, and configuration management.
  • Advanced SQL skills with experience writing complex queries and analyzing database performance.
  • Strong scripting abilities using languages such as Bash, Python, or Perl.
  • Experience troubleshooting cloud-based environments across AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Familiarity with containerized environments, including Kubernetes, and shared storage technologies.
  • Understanding of enterprise networking concepts, including TCP/IP, firewalls, load balancers, and secure database communications.
  • Experience with security protocols such as TLS/SSL, Kerberos, and LDAP.
  • Excellent analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong customer communication skills with experience managing high-pressure enterprise escalations.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex architectural, performance, availability, and data integrity issues within distributed database environments.
  • Analyze and optimize database performance, including SQL queries, system configurations, resource allocation, and workload management.
  • Own high-priority customer escalations from investigation through resolution, maintaining clear communication with enterprise stakeholders.
  • Perform detailed root-cause analysis for critical failures, document findings, and develop long-term solutions.
  • Create technical documentation, troubleshooting guides, and internal knowledge resources.
  • Mentor and support junior engineers by sharing technical expertise.
  • Collaborate with engineering and product teams to reproduce complex issues and advocate for customer needs.
  • Investigate issues across cloud, infrastructure, networking, and database layers.
