Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- 5 to 7 years of relevant post-education experience in electrical engineering for large capital utility projects.
- Experience with electric utility transmission and distribution substation physical design and/or protection & control (P&C) systems.
- Proficiency in producing and reviewing substation deliverables including general arrangements, one-lines, grounding, and schematics.
- Experience with infrastructure planning, design, and construction management.
- Working knowledge of IEEE/NESC Standards and NERC regulations.
- Proficiency in discipline-specific design software: AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, MicroStation, or Inventor.
- Ability to make technical computations, cost estimates, and factual comparisons to regulations.
- Strong project management skills including tracking hours and expenses.
- Ability to work independently and provide leadership to team members.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Perform complex electrical engineering for substations including single line, three line, wiring diagrams, and layout design.
- Develop electrical calculations for loads, grounding grids, short-circuit studies, and protective device coordination.
- Review and advise on third-party design documents, procurement lists, and project plans.
- Provide technical assistance and guidance through the project lifecycle from investigation to construction.
- Develop project plans, specifications, cost estimates, and construction safety plans.
- Coordinate with owners, sub-consultants, and cross-functional teams to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Prepare technical reports, data visualizations, and presentations for engineering and non-engineering audiences.
- Provide training and mentorship to entry-level engineers.
