Requirements
- Minimum 5–10 years of experience in fire sprinkler or fire protection design
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, HydraCAD, Navisworks, and/or Revit
- In-depth knowledge of NFPA, FM Global, and other related standards
- Strong understanding of building and fire codes
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple design projects
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- NICET Level III or IV in Water-Based Systems Layout (preferred)
Responsibilities
- Develop detailed fire sprinkler system designs and layout drawings using HydraCAD Software
- Perform hydraulic calculations and material take-offs in accordance with NFPA standards and local codes
- Review architectural, structural, and mechanical plans to ensure proper system coordination
- Prepare submittals, fabrication drawings, and as-built documentation
- Collaborate with project managers, estimators, and field supervisors to ensure design intent and code compliance are achieved
- Mentor junior designers and provide technical guidance as needed
- Stay current with updates to fire protection codes and standards (NFPA, IBC, IFC, etc.)
- Participate in project meetings and communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and AHJs (Authorities Having Jurisdiction)
