Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent legal qualification.
- Active bar or solicitor membership in good standing.
- 10+ years of commercial legal experience.
- Experience in both law firm and in-house technology company settings.
- Currently in an in-house, sell-side commercial legal role.
- Experience managing a team of at least two legal professionals.
- Proven ability to manage a full commercial deal cycle from negotiation through close.
- Working knowledge of open source licensing and compliance.
- Familiarity with US federal and state privacy and data security frameworks (e.g., CCPA/CPRA).
- Strong communication skills with the ability to provide actionable guidance to leadership.
Responsibilities
- Lead, manage, and develop a team of US-based commercial legal professionals.
- Own the overall health, output, and velocity of the US commercial legal function.
- Manage a portfolio of complex enterprise deals from negotiation through close.
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements including SaaS, MSAs, and DPAs.
- Build and iterate on commercial playbooks, escalation frameworks, and template libraries.
- Create and maintain self-serve resources for go-to-market teams.
- Partner with Product and Security teams to align legal guidance with business objectives.
