Requirements
- 7+ years of game experience creating effects with at least one shipped title on multiple platforms.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in real-time effects.
- Proficiency in Unreal Engine 5 (UE5).
- Proficiency in Maya, 3ds Max, or Blender.
- Experience using Photoshop for effects creation.
- Knowledge of 3D graphics, particle systems, and physics.
- Strong leadership, mentoring, and teaching skills.
- Self-driven with a positive attitude and strong communication skills.
- Ability to problem-solve and prioritize issues within a team environment.
- Ability to collaborate on timelines and communicate task duration and prioritization.
- Ability to maintain high quality and consistent progress.
Responsibilities
- Lead the VFX team by maintaining consistency, providing direction, and ensuring clarity of roles and expectations.
- Conduct team meetings and communicate studio information.
- Provide mentorship and coaching including career development, 1:1s, performance evaluations, and goal setting.
- Guide the creative process and drive the concept phase for game effects.
- Bring in-progress and prototype effects to completion.
- Collaborate with Art Directors to ensure artistic unity across the game.
- Create real-time visual effects to enhance environments, characters, and combat.
- Coordinate with designers and engineers to create effective moment-to-moment gameplay.
- Ensure assets adhere to performance parameters, best practices, and established art style.
- Participate in playtesting to review and iterate on VFX.
