Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in nuclear reactor licensing, regulatory affairs, or nuclear safety analysis.
  • Proven experience supporting DOE reactor authorization or NRC Part 50/52 licensing.
  • Deep understanding of regulatory frameworks for advanced reactor designs.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate engineering requirements into actionable regulatory deliverables.
  • Strong technical writing skills for licensing documentation and correspondence.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nuclear Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related technical field.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to use AI-enabled tools for document management and workflow automation.
  • Knowledge of DOE Order 420.1C, 10 CFR 830, or 10 CFR Parts 50/52 (desired).
  • Background in reactor systems design, safety analysis, or configuration management (desired).

Responsibilities

  • Interpret and apply DOE and NRC regulatory requirements to the reactor development program.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to define technical compliance approaches, including compliance matrices and execution plans.
  • Develop licensing strategies, authorization plans, and engagement plans for phased DOE-to-NRC licensing.
  • Author licensing deliverables such as safety case summaries, design basis documentation, and regulatory correspondence.
  • Act as a regulatory subject matter expert in design reviews and strategic planning.
  • Lead or contribute to regulatory interactions, including briefings, audits, and pre-application engagements.
  • Monitor evolving licensing frameworks to proactively adjust regulatory strategy.
  • Support program planning, risk analysis, and configuration management related to licensing.
