Requirements

  • Master of Science in Genetic Counseling or applicable degree meeting ABGC board certification requirements.
  • Certified Genetic Counselor (CGC) certification, required to be renewed every 5 years.
  • Working knowledge of English (reading, writing, speaking).
  • Genetic Counselor experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Collect, review, and interpret family/medical histories, medical records, and test results.
  • Coordinate genetic testing and communicate findings to patients and referring providers.
  • Develop comprehensive genetic counseling plans, including risk assessment, education, and treatment options.
  • Provide genetic counseling and education to patients and their families, including identifying support resources.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary tumor boards.
  • Research and apply current trends in genetic disease research, testing, and treatment.
  • Assist with the triaging and scheduling of genetic counseling referrals.
