Requirements
- Master of Science in Genetic Counseling or applicable degree meeting ABGC board certification requirements.
- Certified Genetic Counselor (CGC) certification, required to be renewed every 5 years.
- Working knowledge of English (reading, writing, speaking).
- Genetic Counselor experience is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Collect, review, and interpret family/medical histories, medical records, and test results.
- Coordinate genetic testing and communicate findings to patients and referring providers.
- Develop comprehensive genetic counseling plans, including risk assessment, education, and treatment options.
- Provide genetic counseling and education to patients and their families, including identifying support resources.
- Participate in multidisciplinary tumor boards.
- Research and apply current trends in genetic disease research, testing, and treatment.
- Assist with the triaging and scheduling of genetic counseling referrals.
