Requirements
- 6+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience, including a controller, assistant controller, or equivalent senior role.
- Hands-on ownership of full accounting cycles, including close, reconciliations, audit, and reporting.
- Deep expertise in financial controls, budgeting, forecasting, and cash management.
- Strong command of GAAP accounting principles.
- Excellent organizational and documentation skills.
- Clear communication abilities, capable of translating financial complexity for non-finance audiences.
- High judgment and problem-solving skills in high-growth, complex environments.
- Preferred: CPA or MBA/advanced finance degree.
- Preferred: Experience with nonprofit and fund accounting, grant administration, and 990/audit processes.
- Preferred: Experience building finance systems from scratch or scaling through rapid growth.
Responsibilities
- Partner with the CEO and leadership on fundraising, budgeting, and financial planning.
- Build dashboards and reporting for leadership, the Board, and funders.
- Manage cash-flow forecasting, runway modeling, and variance tracking.
- Oversee all accounting operations including GL, month-end/year-end close, and reconciliations.
- Design and enforce internal controls, approval workflows, and procurement processes.
- Manage grant administration, compliance, and reporting obligations.
- Oversee banking, treasury management, and external audit/990 processes.
- Manage contracting processes, templates, and interfaces with external counsel.
