Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of relevant healthcare experience (oncology, hematology, or triage preferred).
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality standards.
  • Intermediate to advanced computer proficiency.
  • Ability to navigate multiple software applications and electronic medical records (EMR) simultaneously.
  • Ability to document patient interactions and clinical information accurately.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent telephone etiquette and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with an interdisciplinary team.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize workload.

Responsibilities

  • Address patient calls, portal messages, and emails regarding care topics, escalating clinical concerns to licensed staff.
  • Follow standardized triage protocols for reporting changes in patient condition.
  • Manage patient scheduling, appointment coordination, and follow-up.
  • Perform medication reconciliation and document current medication lists.
  • Collaborate with clinical team members regarding patient care needs via electronic communication or telephone.
  • Support quality patient care by adhering to clinical and safety procedures.
  • Distribute patient and caregiver education materials.
  • Assist with medical records, lab coordination, and test result notification.
  • Aid in prescription refill requests and prior authorization processes.
