Requirements
- NY claims experience is required.
- 1-4 years of workers’ compensation lost time claim handling experience preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Computer proficiency, specifically with Word, Excel, and Image Right.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Adaptable and self-directed work style.
Responsibilities
- Investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and resolve lost time claims within established authority levels.
- Communicate with insureds, injured workers, brokers, and underwriters to determine coverage and liability.
- Administer indemnity and medical benefit delivery.
- Collaborate with defense counsel to manage litigated cases and control legal expenses.
- Implement managed care strategies and coordinate rehabilitation or medical management.
- Maintain quality claim files and ensure compliance with best practices and company procedures.
- Interact with State and Federal Boards and Commissions to establish appropriate reserves.
- Train and mentor less experienced team members.
- Present files for agent, broker, and insured reviews.
