Requirements
- Experience with highly scalable, event-driven distributed systems.
- Strong understanding of the full data lifecycle at scale, including ingestion, storage, and retrieval.
- Proficiency in Node.JS, Go, or Rust.
- Experience working at scale with technologies like Kafka, ClickHouse, PostgreSQL, Redis, or S3.
- Proven ability to own ambiguous, greenfield projects and drive them forward independently.
- Experience working in a multi-tenant SaaS environment.
- Ability to ship changes quickly and reliably.
- Knowledge of observability systems such as OpenTelemetry (nice to have).
- Experience with high-throughput log aggregation, metrics, or tracing systems (nice to have).
- Experience with on-call rotation and incident management (nice to have).
- Comfortable provisioning and maintaining cloud infrastructure (nice to have).
- Experience with benchmarking and profiling tools (nice to have).
Responsibilities
- Develop PostHog's observability suite covering logs, traces, and metrics.
- Architect and implement systems for high-throughput telemetry ingestion, storage, and retrieval.
- Optimize storage and query performance to handle petabyte-scale data cost-effectively.
- Own product areas end-to-end from alpha to general availability.
- Make architectural decisions to ensure system reliability and data integrity.
- Ship code rapidly while maintaining stability in critical paths.
