Requirements
- 8–12 years of progressive accounting experience.
- 3+ years of experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, or Senior Manager at a high-growth company.
- CPA certification (strongly preferred).
- Big 4 audit foundation (Deloitte, EY, KPMG, or PwC).
- Hands-on ERP expertise with Sage Intacct or NetSuite.
- Experience designing or rebuilding a chart of accounts.
- Deep technical accounting fluency in ASC 606, ASC 842, and ASC 718.
- Experience managing federal, state, and local tax filings, including multi-state nexus and R&D credits.
- Proficiency in 409A valuations and stock-based compensation accounting.
- Familiarity with equity platforms such as Carta.
- Demonstrated experience using AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT) for financial research and automation.
- Proficiency with close and reporting automation tools like FloQast, BlackLine, or Numeric.
Responsibilities
- Design and maintain the chart of accounts as a strategic asset to support GAAP reporting and FP&A analytics.
- Drive a fast, AI-assisted month-end close process across all financial functions.
- Ensure GAAP compliance in revenue recognition, stock-based compensation, and non-routine transactions.
- Produce decision-grade monthly and quarterly reports to support board narratives and FP&A forecasting.
- Manage federal, state, and local tax filings in collaboration with external tax firms.
- Lead 409A valuation cycles and oversee equity compliance and stock compensation accounting.
- Build and document internal controls to ensure audit readiness and a SOX-ready posture.
- Manage the relationship with outsourced accounting partners and lead the progressive insourcing of accounting functions.
