Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in analytics, strategic finance, or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated depth in financial or operational modeling.
- Expert-level SQL proficiency with the ability to write complex queries independently.
- Deep understanding of unit economics: gross margin, contribution margin, COGS structures, cost drivers, and scenario modeling.
- Proven ability to independently frame and decompose ambiguous business problems.
- Strong executive communication skills with experience presenting to VP or C-suite stakeholders.
- High autonomy and self-sufficiency in fast-moving, incomplete environments.
- Experience validating data quality and building datasets from the ground up.
- Experience with hardware and software combination products (nice-to-have).
- Proficiency with Python for analysis and automation (nice-to-have).
- Experience with a modern analytics stack such as dbt or Airflow (nice-to-have).
Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end COGS and gross margin analysis for Motive’s hardware and software product lines.
- Model cost-saving opportunities, build scenario analyses, and deliver recommendations to the CPO, CTO, and finance leadership.
- Structure ambiguous, high-stakes business questions and build clear, defensible analytical POVs.
- Partner with data engineering, finance, and product teams to influence roadmap and investment decisions.
- Navigate complex data environments to establish ground truth and create durable analytical frameworks.
- Contribute to the operational rigor of the team through documentation and version control best practices.
