Requirements
- Staff level backend engineering depth with a track record operating high-scale APIs and distributed systems.
- Strong command of backend technologies such as Node, TypeScript, Elixir, Ruby/Rails, Java, Go, or Python.
- Strong SQL and relational database judgment, including indexing, query optimization, and data modeling.
- Practical understanding of service-oriented and event-driven architectures, queues, and caching tools.
- Working knowledge of production infrastructure, containers, CI/CD, cloud services, and observability.
- Strong production ownership mindset using metrics, logs, and traces for reliability.
- Demonstrated ability to lead through influence, mentor engineers, and communicate technical trade-offs.
Responsibilities
- Architect and evolve backend APIs, services, event-driven workflows, queues, background jobs, and caching strategies.
- Own complex backend technical work from discovery through implementation and production support.
- Lead ambiguous technical initiatives by breaking down problems and identifying risks.
- Improve the reliability, scalability, and performance of production systems through architectural design and testing.
- Debug complex production issues by reasoning across application code, databases, and observability data.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to turn roadmap needs into durable backend systems.
