Requirements

  • 5+ years of coding experience.
  • 3+ years of auditing experience.
  • Proficiency in multiple EMR systems, encoders, and Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality requirements.
  • Ability to interpret medical and surgical terminology.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Associate degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • Current professional certification (CPC, CPMA, CCS, CCS-P, RHIA, or RHIT required).
  • Ability to organize and complete work in a timely manner.
  • Inquisitive mindset with openness to AI-driven process innovation.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and audit inpatient and outpatient physician coding.
  • Perform baseline and quarterly quality assurance reviews.
  • Assess educational needs of coding staff and develop learning materials.
  • Assist operational coding team with edits, denials, and appeals.
  • Train new and existing staff on systems, processes, and procedures.
  • Serve as a technical resource for professional fee coding standards and guidelines.
