Requirements
- Active DoD security clearance (TS/SCI preferred; minimum active Secret with ability to obtain TS/SCI).
- Production experience with data lakehouse and storage technologies such as Apache Iceberg, Ceph, and Postgres.
- Experience with streaming and integration tools including Kafka (Strimzi), Flink, and CDC patterns like Debezium.
- Familiarity with data pipeline and orchestration tools like Airflow, Dagster, or Argo Workflows.
- Understanding of data governance, access patterns (ABAC/RBAC), and catalog technologies.
- Fluency in SQL and ability to design schemas for analytical and operational workloads.
- Proficiency in managing Kubernetes in production, including operators, CRDs, and networking.
- Strong Linux fundamentals and knowledge of container runtime behavior, networking, and TLS.
- Experience with IaC (Terraform or Pulumi) and GitOps patterns.
- Ability to travel (10%-25%) to customer sites for standups, integration, and training.
Responsibilities
- Deploy and harden UDS Data Capability in the mission hero's environment, including UDS Store, Transit, Govern, and Connect components.
- Integrate data capabilities with existing systems, including Big Bang, legacy databases, file systems, and identity providers.
- Build pipelines for data ingestion, transformation, catalog registration, and cross-domain transit across DDIL conditions.
- Operate and maintain deployed systems, handling performance, backups, observability, incident response, and upgrades.
- Generate accreditation artifacts including STIG evidence, cATO documentation, and FIPS validation notes.
- Serve as the field liaison, providing feedback, postmortems, and improvement proposals to product and engineering teams.
- Conduct training and knowledge transfer for the mission hero's team.
- Mentor junior Data Engineer FDEs through pairing and design reviews.
