- At least two (2) years of recent experience
Requirements
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in nursing.
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
- Completed CMS’s Long-Term Care Basic Training.
- Passed the Surveyor Minimum Qualifications Test (SMQT).
- At least two (2) years of recent experience working as a surveyor for facilities serving long-term care residents.
- Demonstrated history of independent decision-making skills to direct and manage survey processes.
- Ability to set priorities independently and collectively in performing survey tasks.
- Ability to openly discuss conflicts and controversies and seek assistance when needed.
- Ability to travel up to 75% of the time on a regular basis.
Responsibilities
- Conduct on-site surveys of Medicare-Medicaid certified health care facilities to determine compliance with Federal regulations.
- Perform survey preparations including off-site preparation, facility tours, observation of care, record reviews, and interviews with staff and families.
- Evaluate healthcare facility systems ranging from quality of care and consumer rights to the physical plant.
- Communicate non-compliance issues to key personnel during site reviews and exit conferences.
- Determine the acceptability of plans of correction and conduct follow-up monitoring surveys.
- Assist with facility and bureau training and participate in work groups as needed.
