Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
- 7–10+ years in communications, public relations, or related roles.
- Experience in automotive, clean transportation, or nonprofit sectors strongly preferred.
- Experience promoting policy initiatives at Federal, State, or Local level required.
- Exemplary writing and storytelling ability with a demonstrated portfolio.
- Strong media relations instincts with proven success securing coverage.
- Ability to translate technical topics into clear, accessible messaging.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
- Proactive, problem-solving, hands-on mindset.
- Ability to work cross-functionally and influence without formal authority.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement an integrated communications plan aligning with CALSTART’s mission, programs, and policy initiatives.
- Establish and maintain a consistent brand voice and messaging across all channels.
- Proactively secure media coverage and maintain relationships with journalists.
- Prepare press materials, op-eds, talking points, and policy briefs.
- Own creation of high-quality content including blogs, newsletters, and case studies.
- Plan and execute events, briefings, and webinars for stakeholders.
- Develop and track KPIs for communications performance.
- Coordinate with cross-functional partners and internal teams.
