Requirements
- Prior individual contributor experience in messaging, eventing, or platform engineering.
- Demonstrated experience in software engineering management.
- Production experience with Go and familiarity with Rust.
- Experience with email deliverability standards (SPF, DKIM, DMARC) and ESPs.
- Experience with third-party messaging APIs (Slack, Microsoft Teams, Google Chat).
- Expertise in AWS messaging stack (EventBridge, SQS, SNS) and compute (ECS, Lambda).
- Experience with Terraform for multi-account/multi-region infrastructure.
- Experience managing teams whose customers are internal engineering teams.
- Working fluency in at least one typed, compiled language.
- BS, MS, or PhD in a related field with appropriate years of experience.
Responsibilities
- Lead and grow a team of software engineers focused on platform services.
- Manage messaging and events infrastructure for email delivery and outbound integrations.
- Oversee high-throughput services built in Golang and Rust on AWS.
- Direct the design of event-driven architectures and pub/sub patterns.
- Manage roadmap planning, dependency management, and delivery cycles.
- Synthesize technical complexity into proposals for engineers and executives.
- Conduct hiring, performance reviews, and career development for team members.
- Ensure system reliability, idempotency, and observability for messaging platforms.
