Requirements
- Law degree and minimum 1–3 years as a practicing attorney (firm or corporate).
- Experience in legal technology, knowledge management, innovation, or legal data.
- Fluency with modern AI development tools (e.g., Claude Code, Codex).
- Experience with repositories and GitHub.
- Methodical approach to structured thinking, taxonomy, and testing.
- Deep understanding of legal workflow differences between litigation, transactions, and research.
- Experience operating as an individual contributor leader in autonomous environments.
- Familiarity with legal taxonomies and standards like FOLIO (preferred).
- Experience building or evaluating legal AI products (preferred).
- Experience designing evaluation frameworks or benchmark datasets (preferred).
Responsibilities
- Own how NetDocuments structures legal knowledge across the Legal Context Graph.
- Build the evaluation discipline for legal AI by designing and running evaluation harnesses.
- Develop legal skill strategy by authoring, testing, and validating structured domain knowledge.
- Define legal taxonomy and structure including practice-area ontologies and document typologies.
- Hire and lead a small team of legal engineers while remaining hands-on.
- Partner with R&D, Product, and Design teams as the substantive legal authority.
