Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in fire protection engineering or related field
  • Proficiency in FDS, PyroSim, Pathfinder or similar software
  • Understanding of fire dynamics, egress analysis principles, and NFPA/IBC codes
  • P.E. License in Fire Protection Engineering
  • 5+ years of experience as a project manager for performance-based design projects
  • Existing client-base with willingness to grow in new areas
  • Ability to review smoke control and egress modeling performed by others
  • Ability to prepare thorough technical reports
  • Ability to present information to clients and AHJs

Responsibilities

  • Develop fire and egress models using advanced computational tools and techniques
  • Apply performance-based design principles to assess fire and life safety strategies
  • Interpret and apply relevant building and fire codes, standards, and regulations
  • Conduct qualitative risk assessments to evaluate potential impact of fire events
  • Incorporate human behavior modeling into fire and egress simulations
  • Collaborate with architects, structural engineers, and HVAC designers
  • Evaluate the performance of fire protection systems and egress components
  • Serve as a technical advisor to clients
  • Provide training and mentorship to junior engineers
