Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in fire protection engineering or related field
- Proficiency in FDS, PyroSim, Pathfinder or similar software
- Understanding of fire dynamics, egress analysis principles, and NFPA/IBC codes
- P.E. License in Fire Protection Engineering
- 5+ years of experience as a project manager for performance-based design projects
- Existing client-base with willingness to grow in new areas
- Ability to review smoke control and egress modeling performed by others
- Ability to prepare thorough technical reports
- Ability to present information to clients and AHJs
Responsibilities
- Develop fire and egress models using advanced computational tools and techniques
- Apply performance-based design principles to assess fire and life safety strategies
- Interpret and apply relevant building and fire codes, standards, and regulations
- Conduct qualitative risk assessments to evaluate potential impact of fire events
- Incorporate human behavior modeling into fire and egress simulations
- Collaborate with architects, structural engineers, and HVAC designers
- Evaluate the performance of fire protection systems and egress components
- Serve as a technical advisor to clients
- Provide training and mentorship to junior engineers
