Requirements
- 15+ years of legal experience in healthcare, digital health, or health technology.
- Strong AI fluency with ability to use AI tools for legal research and risk assessment.
- Experience advising on product development, regulatory submissions, and consumer-facing disclosures.
- Experience with FDA-regulated software, Software as a Medical Device, or digital health products.
- Familiarity with AI and machine learning governance frameworks and responsible AI principles.
- Significant experience advising on HIPAA, FDA software regulations, and FTC health data enforcement.
- Experience drafting terms of service, disclosures, and consent language.
- Juris Doctor from an accredited US law school.
- Active license in good standing with a state bar.
- Experience negotiating agreements with health plans including Medicare Advantage or Medicaid managed care.
Responsibilities
- Advise Product and Engineering teams on legal implications of product features including FDA regulated products and AI/ML-driven health insights.
- Provide legal guidance on data privacy, HIPAA, and corporate practice of medicine.
- Lead negotiation of customer-facing contractual provisions relating to data rights and AI usage.
- Partner with Security and Compliance to support responsible AI governance initiatives.
- Partner with the Clinical team on legal issues related to telehealth services and health information exchange.
- Advise on intellectual property strategy including patent, trade secret, and open-source matters.
- Monitor relevant industry trends, emerging case law, and enforcement actions.
- Partner with Sales and Client Support teams on commercial matters and customer agreements.
- Advise on legal risks specific to health plan customer relationships including Medicare and Medicaid.
