Requirements
- Security engineer background with transition to leadership.
- Strong communicator across all organizational levels.
- Hands-on experience in threat modeling, secure design, SAST/SCA, and security automation.
- Proficiency in Python and JavaScript.
- Cloud infrastructure experience with AWS and/or GCP.
- Familiarity with GitHub Actions.
- Meaningful people management experience with senior individual contributors.
- Experience in a fast-growing SaaS or AI company.
- Proven ability to lead within AI-native security engineering.
- Understanding of mature engineering culture and collaborative security practices.
Responsibilities
- Lead, support, enable and grow the AppSec team.
- Own the formalisation of AppSec strategy and roadmap.
- Be a credible technical partner to your team.
- Define and maintain the team's operating rhythm (OKRs, planning, coordination).
- Interface between AppSec and the rest of the organisation.
- Maintain and evolve Synthesia's approach to AI-assisted development security.
- Own AppSec's relationship with the broader Security function.
- Represent AppSec externally for customers, auditors, and compliance.
