Requirements
- Deep understanding of PostgreSQL internals (MVCC, vacuum, query planner, indexing).
- Production ownership experience at high-traffic, high-write scale.
- Hands-on experience with self-managed databases on Kubernetes, VMs, or bare-metal.
- Experience with complex database sharding.
- Ability to read and write production-grade code.
- Proficiency in evaluating and utilizing AI tooling in engineering workflows.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and resolve performance issues from query to storage engine.
- Manage Postgres fleet operations including backup, replication, and high availability.
- Execute migration from AWS RDS to self-hosted Postgres on Kubernetes.
- Implement database sharding and partitioning strategies.
- Set infrastructure standards for running PostgreSQL.
- Collaborate with application teams on query optimization and access patterns.
- Shape long-term data infrastructure architecture.
