Requirements
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree with an active, unrestricted medical license.
- Board certification in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Emergency Medicine, or relevant specialty.
- Minimum 7 years of clinical practice experience.
- 3–5 years of experience in population health, health plan operations, accountable care, utilization management, or value-based care.
- Prior experience in a Medical Director or physician leadership role strongly preferred.
- Deep understanding of population health management principles.
- Experience overseeing high-cost claimant programs, stop-loss reviews, or clinical risk management.
- Strong background in clinical governance, quality oversight, and utilization review.
- Ability to interpret healthcare analytics and utilization trends.
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Demonstrated leadership in driving organizational change and influencing multidisciplinary teams.
Responsibilities
- Provide physician leadership for population health programs, focusing on high-risk and high-cost populations.
- Guide the development and refinement of risk stratification methodologies, intervention models, and care management approaches.
- Oversee clinical review and governance processes related to high-cost claimants, stop-loss programs, and other areas.
- Ensure the clinical accuracy and defensibility of reports and client-facing deliverables.
- Serve as the senior physician escalation point for complex, high-risk, or clinically ambiguous cases.
- Establish and maintain clinical standards, review criteria, and governance frameworks.
- Partner with analytics, operations, product, and technology teams to improve workflows and reduce low-value tasks.
- Monitor trends in utilization, clinical outcomes, and risk patterns to identify innovation opportunities.
- Support organizational efforts to evolve physician engagement models.
