Requirements
- 2 years experience practicing as a Nurse Practitioner.
- Currently holds a Board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner license (PMHNP).
- Experience in Addiction and Mental Health.
- Experience working with adults in need of general mental health and/or severe mental illness (SMI) treatment.
- Experience and comfort working with patients across the lifespan (ages 13yrs+).
- Knowledge of mental health diagnoses and/or substance abuse dual-diagnoses.
- Proficiency in treatment planning and conducting comprehensive assessments.
- Ability to conduct timely and quality documentation in EHRs.
- Adaptable to technology including telehealth software and video communication.
- Awareness of and compliance with HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2.
Responsibilities
- Assess patients’ mental and physical status based on presenting symptoms and complaints.
- Diagnose psychiatric disorders and mental health conditions.
- Conduct individual psychotherapy for those with chronic or acute mental disorders.
- Order appropriate diagnostic testing such as EKGs and lab work.
- Prescribe psychotropic medications and educate patients on risks and benefits.
- Monitor patients’ medication usage, side effects, and results.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement treatment plans.
- Document patient medical and psychological history, assessments, and outcomes in EHR.
- Practice in compliance with HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2.
- Complete administrative documentation including FMLA and other required forms.
