Job Details

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Risk Management, or a related field, or equivalent experience with 10+ years in underwriting.
Minimum 5+ years of workers’ compensation underwriting experience or related commercial insurance underwriting expertise.
Strong understanding of underwriting principles, pricing models, and risk evaluation methodologies.
Experience with high-risk industries such as construction, manufacturing, real estate, or hospitality.
Ability to analyze complex submissions and make sound, data-informed underwriting decisions.
Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to quickly learn underwriting and insurance systems.
Detail-oriented mindset with strong organizational and documentation skills.
Adaptability in a fast-paced, production-driven environment.

Evaluate and underwrite workers’ compensation insurance applications by analyzing risk exposures, financial data, and industry-specific characteristics.
Review new business, renewals, and policy change requests while applying underwriting guidelines and risk appetite frameworks.
Approve, decline, or refer submissions within assigned authority levels.
Conduct detailed risk analysis for complex accounts across industries such as construction, hospitality, real estate, and manufacturing.
Ensure underwriting decisions comply with regulatory requirements and internal standards.
Document underwriting rationale, pricing justification, and risk assessments.
Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers and producers.
Collaborate with internal underwriting, operations, and product teams.
Provide recommendations to insureds and partners to reduce exposure.
Support process improvements and contribute to knowledge sharing and mentorship.
