  • Strong understanding of underwriting principles, pricing models, and risk evaluation methodologies.
  • Experience with high-risk industries such as construction, manufacturing, real estate, or hospitality.
  • Ability to analyze complex submissions and make sound, data-informed underwriting decisions.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to quickly learn underwriting and insurance systems.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Adaptability in a fast-paced, production-driven environment.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and underwrite workers’ compensation insurance applications by analyzing risk exposures, financial data, and industry-specific characteristics.
  • Review new business, renewals, and policy change requests while applying underwriting guidelines and risk appetite frameworks.
  • Approve, decline, or refer submissions within assigned authority levels.
  • Conduct detailed risk analysis for complex accounts across industries such as construction, hospitality, real estate, and manufacturing.
  • Ensure underwriting decisions comply with regulatory requirements and internal standards.
  • Document underwriting rationale, pricing justification, and risk assessments.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers and producers.
  • Collaborate with internal underwriting, operations, and product teams.
  • Provide recommendations to insureds and partners to reduce exposure.
  • Support process improvements and contribute to knowledge sharing and mentorship.
