Requirements
- Strong software engineering experience delivering production systems.
- Proficiency in Go for complex codebases.
- Familiarity with Ruby on Rails.
- Hands-on production experience with Kubernetes Operators and Helm charts.
- Experience with Custom Resource Definitions and controller patterns.
- Knowledge of cloud-native infrastructure tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible).
- Experience with PostgreSQL migrations and stateful storage.
- Strong understanding of Linux systems and system-level debugging.
- Ability to influence technical direction through proposals and documentation.
Responsibilities
- Guide the technical vision and architecture for GitLab’s cloud-native, self-managed deployments and upgrade workflows.
- Establish operational maturity standards and deployment models.
- Design and maintain Kubernetes Operators, Helm charts, and upgrade orchestration tooling.
- Develop automation frameworks for database migrations and rolling deployments.
- Define database and application lifecycle strategies to reduce downtime.
- Collaborate across internal teams to align deployment patterns with customer needs.
- Mentor engineers through design and code reviews.
- Drive observability, testing, and performance practices.
