Requirements

- Strong technical knowledge of Kubernetes Operators.
- Strong technical knowledge of Helm charts for stateful applications.
- Familiarity with upgrade orchestration patterns.
- Familiarity with cloud-native deployment architectures.
- Experience with database lifecycle management and schema migrations.
- Experience with zero-downtime upgrade strategies.
- Experience working on enterprise-scale or consumer-scale platforms.
- Ability to investigate complex deployment and operational issues.
- Experience building high-performing, distributed teams.
- Effective cross-functional communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Guide a globally distributed engineering team in an all-remote, asynchronous setting.
- Hire, onboard, and develop team members aligned with company values.
- Manage and improve agile, asynchronous workflows.
- Partner with Product Management and Infrastructure Platforms teams.
- Own reliability, upgrade experience, and operational simplicity across all deployment models.
- Improve deployment patterns, observability, and zero-downtime capabilities.
- Apply technical judgment in Kubernetes Operators, Helm charts, and stateful application delivery.
- Participate in incident management to support GitLab.com availability.
